HPW Metallwerk wins further customers for future plant in USA / Commissioning of new plant in Garsten on schedule

Linz, 20 November 2024 - HPW Metallwerk GmbH (HPW), a manufacturer of high-performance copper wire for e-mobility, wind power and other industrial applications, has set the course for its expansion into the USA.

HPW was able to win further American OEMs customers for whom PEEK-insulated flat wires will be produced locally. These will be used in the latest generation of electric motors. The various high-volume orders will start in 2026 and 2027 with a term of several years.

The new site will be used as a logistics centre from 2026, after which the production facilities will be gradually put into operation. Preferred states for this are Ohio, North Carolina and Tennessee.

HPW is thus honouring its international growth strategy and strengthening its position as a manufacturer of innovative flat wires for e-mobility in the United States. The investment volume for the new production site will be in the double-digit million euro range.

In addition, HPW has made significant progress in recent months in setting up the new production site in Garsten, Upper Austria, and the majority of the production facilities have already been built. Following commissioning, series production of PAI-insulated high-tech flat wires will start in the first half of 2025.

Harald Lackner, CSO of HPW: ‘We have recently successfully realised important goals for our international growth in the USA. The decision to establish a production site close to our customers was very well received by the North American OEMs and their suppliers, which is also impressively demonstrated by the other contracts signed locally. We are also on schedule with our new plant in Garsten, Austria, and look forward to starting production of our high-tech wires there next year in order to supply our customers in the region.’

HPW, high performance wires, is a technology company that develops and produces key components for the global energy transition. HPW's high-performance flat wires are mainly used in e-mobility and in the field of renewable energies. The products are characterised by high efficiency, durability, and long service life. Thus they increase the efficiency of electric motors, for example. HPW is an established partner for customers worldwide - including major global OEMs as well as Tier 1 suppliers - in over 50 countries. HPW has the capacity to meet the ever-increasing global demand for high-performance wires. Based on patented technology and continuous innovation, HPW is constantly achieving further performance advantages and opening up additional application possibilities for its products. The company is headquartered in Linz, Austria
