Bremen, 11 July 2023 - SDAX-listed Energiekontor AG (ISIN DE0005313506), one of Germany's leading project developers and operators of wind and solar parks, has successfully reached financial close on the Letschin solar park project, marking the go-ahead for the realisation of the park, which will be the largest solar park project in the Company's history to date.

The Letschin solar park with a planned total generation capacity of around 60 MWp will be built in the district of Märkisch-Oderland in the federal state of Brandenburg. With a total area of around 55 hectares, the Letschin solar park is roughly the size of sixty-five football pitches. From the first full year of operation, the solar park will generate around
68 GWh of green electricity annually. This is enough to cover the average annual electricity demand of around 22,000 households and thus contributes to saving more than 50,000 tonnes of CO2 per year. Energiekontor is thus actively driving forward the energy transition in Germany and making an essential contribution to a climate-friendly, independent and affordable energy supply for tomorrow. The Letschin solar park has a long-term private power purchase agreement (PPA) with a well-known German industrial company. Construction of the solar park is scheduled to begin during the third quarter of 2024, with commissioning currently scheduled for the first quarter of 2025. Current planning is to transfer the solarpark into the company’s own portfolio after successful commissioning.

"With the successful go-ahead for the Letschin solarpark project, we are consistently implementing our strategic goal of expanding the solar segment," says Peter Szabo, CEO of Energiekontor AG. "Our project pipeline in the solar segment is well filled. In Germany alone, we currently have the option to further develop solarparks with a total generation capacity of around 170 and to bring them into the construction phase by the end of this year. Also in France, we have already submitted the first applications for the approval of three solarpark projects with a total generation capacity of over 55 MWp. With the consistent transfer of operational solarparks into our own portfolio, we are not only pursuing what we have promised, namely the further expansion of the Group’s own wind- and solarpark portfolio, but also contribute to the future stabilisation of income from the power generation segment. Currently, income in this segment still is largely determined by the wind levels in the respective financial year," Szabo continues.
