Autonomous driving, electromobility, and comfort – trend-setting microelectronics by Elmos for the mobility of the future Dortmund, December 13, 2022: Elmos will present innovative semiconductor solutions for the mobility of the future at CES 2023 in Las Vegas at “The Westgate” hotel, North Tower, Suite #18121, January 5-8, 2023. As a global market leader in ultrasonic ICs, Elmos will show products for reliable and safe object detection, e.g. for parking assistance systems and autonomous driving. New concepts for smart switches bring the next generation of gesture control to life for trade visitors. High-performance ICs for controlling LED ambient lighting in cars will also be presented at the show. Semiconductor solutions for highly integrated and programmable control of BLDC, stepper and DC motors for thermal management (particularly in electrified vehicles), as well as ICs for electronic fuses to address new vehicle architectures and autonomous driving round off the Elmos product portfolio at CES. Environment Detection: Modern assistance systems have to be able to detect objects in the immediate vehicle vicinity, precisely, reliably and free of interference, regardless of lighting and weather conditions. All of which make ultrasonic sensor ICs a central component of sensor fusion in advanced driver safety assistance systems (ADAS) and for autonomous driving in cities at slow speeds. As the leading global supplier of ultrasonic IC solutions, Elmos shows the advantages and functionality of ultrasonic detection on site at CES. A special highlight will be the novel AI-supported object recognition. Elmos presents an affordable solid-state LiDAR concept for short- and mid-range environment sensing in the smallest of installation spaces, which can also accommodate the requirements of future ADAS systems and autonomous driving. The new higher-resolution Elmos LiDAR cam demonstrator paves the way for tangible, precise and reliable detection. Motor Control: Thermal management is key to the electrification of cars and plays a major role in increasing efficiency and optimizing consumption. Elmos offers a wide range of highly integrated motor control ICs, covering a power range from <5W to over 1kW. These products can be used for all relevant applications such as valves, pumps, active grille shutters, fans or air dampers in the vehicle, which are required as part of the thermal management system to ensure electronics, battery and drivers run at optimal temperatures. Elmos motor controllers are also perfect for water- and coolant-based as well as air-based applications. An HVAC demonstrator with low-noise fan and active air flap control will be presented. LED Control: Automotive interior lighting of freely definable colors arouses emotions so that passengers feel more comfortable and well-being. Elmos LED controllers are your ticket to energy-efficient and homogeneous ambient lighting. Beside indirect lighting in the footwell or via light strips, cutting-edge future lighting concepts will feature animated surface illumination, e.g. on the dashboard and inside the doors. Elmos also provides versatile design and safety options, including flowing dynamic taillight animations using Elmos' LED controller solutions. Gesture Recognition: As a pioneer of in-car gesture recognition, Elmos enables with HALIOS® ICs optical gesture detection via infrared technology for displays. Even novel operating concepts with invisible surface switches – so-called smart switches, which only become visible when approached – can be easily incorporated with Elmos technology and tested interactively using a demonstrator. Smart Power Distribution: New vehicle architectures for future driver assistance systems and autonomous driving require an always-on energy supply. With the new eFuse product family from Elmos, the setup of a stable and functionally safe power supply can be individually adapted to the customer's requirements. Easily configured, ultra-responsive, with minimal power dissipation and maximum flexibility – all mean the customer can implement individual or standardized protection while minimizing development time and costs. 1 Lab features are usually functionalities that emerge from the think tank of the investor community. In the early stages, these are experimental functionalities whose development process is largely determined by use and the resulting feedback from the community. When integrating external services or functionalities, the functionality can only be guaranteed to the extent that the individual process elements, such as interfaces, interact with each other.
