Marc Tüngler elected as new Chairman of the Supervisory Board of freenet AG
Büdelsdorf, 5 May 2022 – Following the Annual General Meeting on 5 May 2022, the Supervisory Board of freenet AG elected Supervisory Board member Marc Tüngler as its new Chairman. Marc Tüngler, who has been a member of freenet’s Supervisory Board since 2012, thus replaces Prof. Dr. Helmut Thoma, who is leaving the board. The attorney-at-law and managing director of the Deutsche Schutzvereinigung für Wertpapierbesitz e.V. (German Association for the Protection of Securities Ownership) (DSW) has in-depth knowledge of the telecommunications industry and the company itself. Marc Tüngler is a proven expert in corporate and capital market law. In addition, he has been a member of the Commission (Regierungskommission) of the German Corporate Governance Code since 2015. Marc Tüngler has been elected as Chairman of the company's Supervisory Board for four years until the Annual General Meeting in 2026. Prof. Dr. Kerstin Lopatta, as a proven expert in the field of sustainability reporting (including Professor of Accounting, Auditing and Sustainability), strengthens the competence of the Supervisory Board in the field of ESG. Miriam Wohlfarth, as a founder and entrepreneur in the area of FinTech, will accompany the further digital transformation of freenet. Thomas Karlovits brings his extensive industry and capital markets expertise to the Supervisory Board as a member of the Board of Directors of Blackwall Capital Investment AG and long-standing equity research analyst in the telecommunications industry. All three aforementioned persons are new members of the Supervisory Board and have been appointed until 2026. In addition, Sabine Christiansen (member since 2015) and Robert Weidinger (member since 2012) have been confirmed as members of the Supervisory Board for the same period.
