OLB: Changes in the Supervisory Board

  • Shareholders appoint four new members
  • John Denhof replaces Axel Bartsch as Chairman of the Supervisory Board

The shareholders of Oldenburgische Landesbank AG ("OLB" or "Bank") have appointed new representatives of their side to the Bank's Supervisory Board. John Denhof, Dr Sebastian Schäfer, Mikhail Rychev and Karin Katerbau are new members of the Board. Axel Bartsch, Chairman of the Supervisory Board since October 2019, stepped down at the end of his term of office. Dr Manfred Puffer, Michele Rabà and Sascha Säuberlich resigned from the Supervisory Board. The other Supervisory Board mandates of the shareholders and the employee representatives remain unchanged.

At the constituent meeting of the new Supervisory Board on Tuesday, 1 April 2025, John Denhof was elected Chairman and Dr Sebastian Schäfer Deputy Chairman. The new shareholder representatives strengthen OLB's increasingly international orientation against the backdrop of supervision by the European Central Bank (ECB) and the targeted further growth, particularly in the area of specialised lending beyond the German market.

John Denhof (57) has more than 30 years of experience in banking. From 2017 to 2024, he was CEO of the ECB-regulated OTP Banka Slovenia (previously Nova KBM Slovenia). Prior to that, he held various positions at Citibank since 2000, most recently as Managing Director of Consumer Lending at Citibank Singapore until 2016. Dr Sebastian Schäfer (52), lawyer, has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services sector and held senior positions at Credit Suisse Group from 2003 to 2023. Since then, he has acted in an advisory capacity and held various supervisory board mandates. Mikhail Rychev (29) has been a Principle at Apollo Global Management since 2019, having previously worked for Deutsche Bank Financial Institutions Group, among others. Karin Katerbau (61) was a member of the Board of Managing Directors of OLB from April 2012 to December 2021, previously Deputy Chairwoman of the Board of Managing Directors of the Polish mBank (previously BRE Bank SA) and a member of the Board of Managing Directors of comdirect bank AG, she also worked at Société Générale, among others.

"I would like to thank the departing members of the Supervisory Board and Chairman Axel Bartsch for their very constructive cooperation," says Stefan Barth, CEO of OLB, "I look forward to the professional and effective dialogue with the new Supervisory Board and I am convinced that together we will continue OLB's successful growth course."
