HELMA Eigenheimbau AG publishes 2020 half-year report

Lehrte, August 18, 2020 - HELMA Eigenheimbau AG has today published its 2020 half-year report.

In the first half of 2020, the HELMA Group generated net new order intake of EUR 115.5 million (H1 2019: EUR 140.6 million), of which HELMA Eigenheimbau AG accounted for EUR 51.4 million (H1 2019: EUR 63.4 million) and HELMA Wohnungsbau GmbH for EUR 40.2 million (H1 2019: EUR 64.6 million). As a consequence of the pandemic, both companies performed tangibly behind the previous year's strong figures, as well as the original planning before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. By contrast, HELMA Ferienimmobilien GmbH continued its very positive trend from the second half of 2019 and also benefited from higher demand for holidays within Germany, with the company growing its new order intake to EUR 23.9 million in the first half of 2020 (H1 2019: EUR 12.6 million). Gratifyingly, the HELMA Group also already noted a clear uptick in demand at the end of the first half of the year.

Based on consolidated revenue of EUR 114.2 million (H1 2019: EUR 110.3 million) generated in the first six months of the current financial year, which represented revenue growth of around 4 %, earnings before taxes (EBT) amounted to EUR 6.6 million for the first half of the year (H1 2019: EUR 7.5 million). After deducting income taxes and minority interests' share of earnings, consolidated net income amounted to EUR 4.5 million as of the mid-year stage (H1 2019: EUR 5.2 million).

Taking into account risks and impairments to business performance deriving from the COVID-19 pandemic, on August 13, 2020 the HELMA Group published a forecast for the 2020 financial year, whereby consolidated earnings before taxes (EBT) are expected to lie in a range between EUR 14.0 million and EUR 17.0 million (FY 2019: EUR 23.6 million). Due to the high level of economic uncertainty, it is still not possible to issue a forecast for the 2021 financial year. This forecast will be issued at the earliest in the first quarter of 2021 when the FY 2020 financial figures are announced. However, in light of the extensive portfolio of attractive land plots - which promises potential revenue of approximately EUR 1.7 billion as of June 30, 2020 - and assuming that the market environment stabilises, the HELMA Group enjoys very good prospects of achieving higher results again in the medium term.
