PNE launches Wattmate: A new platform for electricity marketing
Hamburg, 27 May 2025 – With Wattmate, the PNE Group is launching a digital platform that offers operators of wind and solar farms a simple and transparent way to conclude short and long-term marketing contracts – supplemented by individual advice. The aim is to optimise the economic marketing of the electricity generated in line with the plant and the current market situation. This includes marketing solutions ranging from traditional direct marketing to longer-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs). ‘Our approach combines digital processes with personalised advice for the first time - a new kind of offering for operators of renewable energy plants,’ says Heiko Wuttke, CEO of PNE AG. ‘This enables simple, transparent and customised marketing. That is the decisive added value. With this new service, we are once again living up to our claim of being a Clean Energy Solutions Provider, i.e. a provider of solutions for clean and safe energy.’ Wattmate utilises the PNE Group's many years of expertise in PPA transaction consulting. Well-founded experience, bundling of various individual enquiries and extensive contacts to the most important market participants enable operators to achieve the best results. Operators can easily create their wind or solar farm themselves on the platform using data from the market master data register. Once they have uploaded their load profile, they can start the tendering process for their park. Wattmate uses the data provided to request suitable offers from marketers or industrial customers. These offers are stored on the platform in a structured manner so that the operators can choose one. The Wattmate team supports operators with personalised advice when selecting, reviewing and negotiating the contract. Wattmate not only offers marketing, but also transparency: In addition to current market data such as prices for guarantees of origin, Wattmate publishes its own PPA price index and detailed market value forecasts for wind and solar power – both for the coming months and for the next few years. These forecasts help operators to recognise market developments at an early stage and make informed decisions about the best time to conclude a contract. ‘Not all operators have the resources to continuously familiarise themselves with the complex mechanisms of the electricity market,’ says Nils Kompe, Head of Power Origination & Green Markets at PNE. ‘Wattmate provides a remedy here – with a user-friendly platform, personalised advice and regular knowledge transfer on market mechanisms and trends.’ Operators can now register their park at www.wattmate.de and obtain their individual marketing offer. As a digital platform, Wattmate offers operators of wind and solar parks a simple and transparent way of concluding marketing contracts - supplemented by personalised advice.
