STOCKHOLM, Jan. 10, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Boliden has updated the estimations for Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves at Kevitsa, as a result of more detailed studies of the mineralization. The updated estimates show an increase in tonnage in both Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves compared to the previous year. The average grade for the Mineral Reserve is estimated to increase to 0.22 percent for nickel (NiS*) and remains as previously 0.31 percent for copper. Nickel and copper guidance grades for 2025 are estimated at 0.17 percent and 0.23 percent respectively. Also, the timing for a decision on a potential Stage 5 project has been postponed by a couple of years.

The upfront cash consideration for the entities is USD 1,300 m plus contingent payments that can reach up to USD 150 m, on a cash and debt-free basis. The transaction, that considerably strengthens Boliden's mine production as well as internal zinc and copper concentrate supply, is subject to customary regulatory approvals.

STOCKHOLM, Sept. 25, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- For several years, Boliden and Komatsu have collaborated on the electrification and automation of mining trucks in the open pit copper mine Aitik. Now the collaboration is further deepened with a world premiere of a mining truck that can be converted to battery technology.

In Aitik, electrified trolley systems have, separate from this cooperation, been implemented with the aim of reducing diesel consumption and 17 mining trucks have been converted to self-driving in an autonomous haulage system (AHS). In connection with the world's largest expo for mining equipment, MINEXPO in Las Vegas, Boliden and Komatsu presented the next step in the development towards fossil-free mining. As the first operation in the world, a mining truck from Komatsu, with the option to convert to battery operation, will be introduced in Aitik. This as a result of a collaborative project where the mining truck is tested in a production environment with the aim of further developing technology and implementation possibilities.

STOCKHOLM, Sept. 12, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Since 2021, Boliden has carried out investments in the Odda zinc smelter with the aim of increasing the annual production volume from 200 to 350 ktonnes. Several of these investments are now largely completed, however, delays have occurred in the roasting facility in particular. This means that the ramp-up towards the new production level will start at the end of the first quarter of 2025. The delay means an increase in the cost of the project of EUR 100 m. Boliden's total capital expenditures for 2024 are still estimated at SEK 15.5 billion and for 2025 Boliden's capital expenditures are estimated at SEK 13.5 billion.
